Jared Wallin has been sailing and teaching sailing since an early age. He grew up on the Cape and has sailed on Nantucket Sound since the first days in his family Beetle Cat.  He was captain of his collegiate team, Salve Regina University in Newport, RI for three out of the four years. Right out of college he started working for Sail America, who organized the ‘Strictly Sail’ Boat shows across the country selling show space. He spent some time in the marine electronics field, where he learned the latest in marine technology. He most recently left his position as waterfront manager at Hyannis Yacht Club, where he was an integral part of their management team; maintaining the clubs fleet, facility, and hosting many local and national sailing events, as well as actively racing his own J22. Jared has joined the team at MacDougalls’ as Dockmaster and is eager and ready for the boating season.

Ryan Scott grew up on the water racing Opti’s and Laser’s. He then moved to work on boats including 12 Meter’s, cruising boats and race boats. On top of the maintenance and optimization of the boats he completed many ocean deliveries. He then decided to move his concentration to rigging, and joined Hall Spars and Rigging in 2004 as a rigger. There he honed his rigging skills on everything from small keelboats and day sailors, to IRC race boats, Grand Prix projects such as America’s Cup and Volvo Ocean Race masts, and mega yachts such as Wally’s and Briand’s. In 2010 he left Hall to join West Marine Rigging in Newport as there Rigging Manager. There he continued his constant knowledge gain, working with customer’s on; rigging packages, deck layouts, overall optimization and rig tuning. Ryan continues to race very often on one design’s such as J/24’s, Melges 24’s and Swan 42’s, along with a wide variety of larger race boat IRC programs. Ryan joins our team as Rigging Director.
